OK here's the deal....

...I don't like you and you don't like me, but just give me 50,000 words and I can get back to killing you with beer.

Just a private conversation between me and my brain there readers. The eagle-eyed amongst you will note that the inspiration for that is Homer Simpson. Inspiration; there's a good word. It's something I'm gonna need one truck-load of a lot of to get through NaNoWriMo. This is where I stand at 7.15pm on Sunday October 31st; no words (natch), two plots that I hope to cobble together into something vaguely readable, next to no plot outline, next to no characterisation, no idea what the ending will be and no idea how I'm going to write the average 1,667 words I need on average every single day in November.

And as if all that wasn't enough, I'm being interviewed about NaNoWriMo for Front Row on Radio 4 tomorrow. So I've got to come up with something so I don't sound like a complete spud when it goes out. Add in that we're moving house in less than two weeks, Harry being four months old and doesn't understand deadlines apart from his next feed, and I'm supposed to work for 8 hours a day and you can understand why I'm freaking out slightly. Why in God's name did I sign myself up for this? Keris thinks I'm a bit mental anyway and has no sympathy, and she's doing it as well! But there again she has a whole outline, plan for writing each day and a semblance of a plot.

So I'm off to the bedroom now to write an outline and a plan. Check back every day for some of my thoughts, if I have any left (which will be in bold) and the text of the novel (which will be in plain text). May my God go with me......
